The Plate

UI/UX CASE STUDY

Restaurant
Meal Order App

#

Overview

“The Plate* is a meal order app for a restaurant that provides a variety of healthy, freshly cooked foods. This is a solution I came up with after patronising the services of the aforementioned Restaurant”.

Problem Statement

“Customers would place orders via a phone call. Delicious food but terrible service.
It was a tedious process of unsuccesful phone calls. I discovered, It was due to an overflow of customers' orders and there was nobody on the customer phone line to cater to customers painfully waiting online. Coupled with multiple inquiries for the Menu. What if they didn't have to waste valuable time asking and the business did not have to list available foods over the phone? What if people could have their food delivered conviniently without making that phone call.”

The Goal

The goal is to create a User-centric B2C product. One that allows seamless placing and delivery of orders, easy access to food menu, rewards loyalty. Promos, discounts, events, menu extensions – customers will be finding out about all these without even having to leave their comfort!

“Gives customers more control
over their time and money.”

Solution

A virtual store-front to keep customers connected to the business even when they are not in close proximity and most importantly, reward loyalty.
With the option to place orders via the app, customers can place orders from the comfort of their base or on their way to pick up the kids.

Low Fidelity/ Wireframe

With all the information and knowledge, I proceeded to create wireframes to serve as a blueprint for functionality and structure.

Conclusion

During the whole process, the biggest challenge was merging all the user needs in one product without giving too much attention to the one particular problem. The aim of this whole endeavor is to highlight how mobile apps can optimize B2C relationships in business through quality service and improve my product design skills.
